Production partnership,
done by the book.

Etsy permits production partners. Sellers get in trouble for hiding them, not for having them. Here's the compliant setup, start to finish.

01The rule

What Etsy actually requires

Two things: you disclose the partnership on your listings, and your ship-from location reflects where the parts actually ship from — California. Here's the wording — no email required:

Paste into Shop Manager → Production partners → description

3D printing studio in Torrance, California. They produce and ship my designs to my exact specifications; all products remain my original work. Made in the USA.

Optional line for listing descriptions

Made to order from my original design by my production partner in California, USA.

Adjust the voice to match your shop. The requirement is honest description of the partner's role — Etsy's rules don't require naming us publicly, only describing what we do.

What changes, what doesn't

03The flow

How orders reach us

Etsy → ShipStation → our queue. No API keys to manage, no address copy-paste, no payout splitting: Etsy pays you; we invoice you weekly. ShipStation is the only integration, because it's the one that works with Etsy's post-2024 API rules.

04The economics

What it costs

Same transparent sheet as everyone — recurring-partner rate $3.00 per print-hour, every cost line public. Your margin math is simple because our math is public.

05The comparison

Already looked at the big
print-on-demand farms?

Fair — they're good at what they do. Here's what's different about a 12-machine shop run by a seller:

You approve first articles

Your parts are measured and photographed for your sign-off before quantity runs — not sampled after something ships wrong.

A seller answers the email

The person reading your message runs a 4.9★ Star Seller Etsy shop on these same machines. Your problems are ones we've had.

A cost sheet, not a black box

Per-part prices from big farms are take-it-or-leave-it numbers. Ours decompose into filament, machine time, and a service rate you can check.

06The reason

Why sellers do this

Start with one SKU

Map one product. If the parts and the process aren't right, you've risked one listing.
